BOZ ARTISTIC PRODUCTIONS, APS (hereinafter BOZ), and the Municipality of RUVIANO, (hereinafter the Municipality), with the patronage of the Region of Campania, Province of Caserta, the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” and the University of Naples “Federico II” Master of II level in Dramaturgy and Cinematography and University of Naples “Parthenope”, present the first edition of the RUVIANO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2024.25, hereinafter R.I.F.F. 24.25, and hereafter regulated by these contest rules

General Purpose

R.I.F.F. 24.25 aims to:

  1. Promote film culture through the viewing of Italian and non
    Italian works,
  2. Enhance the resources and local products making audiences appreciate the
    genuineness and goodness thereof,
  3. Enhance the historical and artis
    tic beauty of the village while offering guests the
    opportunity to visit places and sites yet undiscovered,
  4. Create opportunities for cultural and social gatherings between film enthusiasts and
    art lovers as well as professionals and visitors,
  5. Develop reflection and introspection as well as a critical understanding of the issues
    raised and presented by such works
Objectives

R.I.F.F. 24.25 has the following objectives:

  1. To provide visibilityand opportunity to emerging talent, filmmakers, and film artists to
    present their work s in electronic, online, or in person platform s to a broader audience as
    well as to showcase that work to the greatest possible number of agents and
    professionals in the field
  2. To encourage and promote networking and collaboration between film operators to
    establish or intensify professional relationships between them,
  3. To foster interaction between the public and film experts during the event through
    meetings, open discussions, j am sessions, and workshops with and among the
    attendees to deepen knowledge and understanding of their presented works or
    backstage operations
Competition Structure

R.I.F.F. 24.25 is a review/ competition of film works, divided into 4 distinct subcategories:

  1. INTERNATIONAL SHORTMEDIUM FILM COMPETITION
  2. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR TOURIST/TERRITORIAL PROMOTION AL
    SPOTS , specifically on the theme of small town/village
  3. INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION , focused on typical special ties
    of agro food (food&wine);
  4. INTERNATIONAL SHORT MEDIUM FILMS COMPETITION , dedicated to the theme
    of social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion

There is also a section outside the competition called BEST ANIMATED SHORTdedicated to the specialty of short film using animation as a medium

The maximum duration requirements of aforementioned works accepted is the following:

  • 15′ for short films
  • 16′ to 49′ for medium length films and /or documentaries
  • 5′ for the spot films
Eligibility Requirements
  1. May be presented in any language, but must have subtitles in Italian
  2. The film must have:
    . been produced as of 1 January 2023
    . already been presented in at least one other recognized film festival at the time of its registration submission with R.I.F.F. 24.25 . The person submitting the film to R.I.F.F. 24.25 must indicate the name of the festival in which the film was registered and any respective awards and/or mentions it may have received
  3. For those entrants whFor those entrants whoo presentpresent or submitor submit inin thethe ItalianItalian language, the film must language, the film must contain contain English subtitles English subtitles
  4. Contestants must sign up exclusively through the FilmFreewayFilmFreeway platform from September 2024 to 20th February 2025. Any other form of registration will result in exclusion from the contest.
Selection and Participation
  1. Successful registration does not guarantee automatic selection of the work for acceptance and presentation at the film festival; this is the exclusive competence and judgment of the selection committee.
  2. Works that have been enter ed into R.I.F.F. 24.25 program cannot be withdrawn. Withdrawal of an entry from the program will incur a penalty of €100.00
  3. Those who submit their work and who are nominated for one of the prizes guarantees their willingness to contribute to even through streaming services or in prerecorded messages any debates, open discussions, meetings with the public, contest jurors , and the press as necessary or as requested

Awards

All festival prizes are awarded to the directors of the selected works with exception of
awards desig nated for actors/actresses.

  2. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR TOURISM/TERRITORY PROMOTIONAL
    SPOTS:
    Award for best spot film
    Award for best photograph
  3. INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION on typical agro food (food & wine)
    Award for best documentary
    Award for best photograph
  4. INTERNATIONAL SHORT MEDIUM FILMS COMPETITION on the theme of social inclusion:
    Award for best film
    Award for best subject
    Award for best actor/actress

Special mention is envisioned for the BEST ANIMATED SHORT film

Thecriteria for consideration for all films will be based upon quality . The best of all films judged within the context of the festival will be recognized with a special prize “La Bella Mugnaia” village of Ruviano.

The quality jury, currently being defined, will be made up of film critics, cinema experts, directors, actors, screenwriters, representatives of the world of entertainment, art, culture and academic world, and will evaluate yhe works selected for the competition. The selected films will be screened from 23 to 25 May 2025.
In addition to the judges who will evaluate the quality of those submissions , there will also be another group of judges who will evaluate the works based upon popularity and yet another consisting of young students from schools, a rtistic l yceums and the relevant technical vocational fields related to photography/audiovisual, multimedia, fashion, and costume design as well as teachers appointed by the same educational institutions to evaluate the finalists ’ works.
